If you haven't checked out Part 1 of the ride from Mangalore to Goa, you should check it out here.
"Being in a metro city can be quiet depressive" suggested my friend . I was actually going through this ever since I've been in Delhi. At one point it was too much. Hence this ride was planned as a getaway from everything.
I was quite hesitant to mention this in my earlier post. Now that I'm out of it, I thought I should mention it here. The ride kinda helped me a little but in the end, I realized that it is not about the city or environment, but it's what's you put your mind that affects you.
What seed you plant in your mind, it grows into that tree.
You sow a seed of doubt and negativity and it begins to weigh you down. The more time passes, the tree grows bigger and heavier. So always keep a check on what seed you sow. You plant a seed of confidence and positivity, it grows bigger with time.
So, carrying on with my travel, I had planned to start off from Goa around 5:00 am so that I could reach Pune by evening. Unfortunately, I ended waking up at 6:30 am with a headache.(Again caused by the mind during sleep.)
I had Poori and Bhaji for breakfast in a nearby hotel. The Bhaji so was shitty, I almost puked. Thank god there was an option of pickle. People in Goa don't prepare gravys well... or maybe they are not so good at preparing veg stuff.
It was 8 am when I started off from Goa. I put maps for and decided to take the Amboli route. Initially, the highway seemed to be pretty smooth 4 lane roads as you see in the first image of this post until...
Google Maps decided to take me through inner routes!
I met some locals here who came to speak when I stopped to click pictures. They were asking the usual questions which people ask when they see a biker- about the bike, where am I headed to and "Kitni deti hai?" (Fuel efficiency) and left with a lot of praises for me!
Moving a little further, I was finally riding in Amboli Ghats. The roads were freshly laid out and it was a breeze taking on the curves. I was finally enjoying the ride. Until now I had only encountered straight roads and these curves felt like treasure!
The grin on my face tells everything! :P
The views weren't bad either!
Found some dried up waterfalls enroute.
After this stop, I rode non stop because it felt like I was not covering distance at all by stopping every time. The next stop I took was a lunch break once I was nearing Pune. I was tired of eating shitty food in Goa for 2 days.
I decided not to punish my tummy anymore and decided to stop at a good restaurant. Luckily I found a Vithal Kamats on the highway.
You can find these in most of the highways. They are the best place to go if you want good food and hygenic toilets while you are on a roadtrip in India.
Ordered the special meal, got fresh, had the meal and continued my journey. The staff there were nice. Moving ahead I found this tunnel enroute Pune. You'll get two tunnels when you go from Bangalore/Goa to Pune.
I reached Pune in the evening. My friend Sagar, who is also the designer of our Ride De India logo came to receive me in Pune. I stayed over at his place in Pune. I also met my childhood friend Prathik the same day. Something happened that day that gave us all the shock of our lives.
Stay tuned for Part 3 to know what happened!
