A Man And His Dream
This movie started off with a man named Tucker. Tucker looked to be the average man with a
wife, son, and daughter. Also, you could not forget about all of his dogs. Tucker had an idea or dream to build a car that was better looking than all the other cars on the market. Tucker wanted to be a part of the big three with his automotive company. Tucker began to make friends and bonds with people to hire and help him build the car of the future. Tucker drew up prototypes of the vehicle to give to his employees to start on this project. Trying to bring these cars to market Tucker needed a factory and 50 cars ready to sell by June 1st. He faced several problems with coming up with the money, the right employees for the job, and court but still was successful.
I found this movie very interesting being a huge car lover. Tucker I also found very interesting with his passion. Tucker wanted to make the first car where the engine is in the back of the vehicle. This led to huge suspicion from the market of buyers causing everyone wanting to know what this vehicle was going to be like. Another huge factor I found interesting was how safe Tucker wanted to make the vehicle. Tucker wanted seatbelts, shatter resistant glass, and headlights that moved with the front wheels. He marketed this very well because safety was not a big concern at the time. He pitched the safety issue by saying the big three did not care at all about safety all they wanted was the money. Tucker did a very good job selling the idea and at this time the way he did it was so different.
While watching this movie I found a few things that were related to class discussions we have had. The first would be how Tucker wanted to invent something different with the engine being in the back and nothing else like it. This relates because in class discussions we have talked about standing out and having different ideas to be a good entrepreneur. Also, to have success catching the market's eye and building its interest. Another huge relation from the movie and class discussions would be having an idea
that could help people and make people feel better. This is exactly what Tucker did when having the idea for the vehicle and pitching the idea. The idea was to make the vehicle safer with new equipment they had in their car. This made the market interested in wanting to have a car that was safer and potentially save their life if it came down to it. These two relations from the movie and class discussions made Tucker a great entrepreneur and with all the problems Tucker faced. He still was successful by putting his dream and idea to life.
