«The Shape of Water» - is a gloomy fairy tale, from the cult director Guillermo del Toro, narrating about an unusual love story with elements of a thriller and horror film.
The film takes place in 1963 and the atmosphere of this time is very well felt throughout the film. Events develop on behalf of the dumb cleaner Eliza, who works in the research center. Each day is similar to the previous one. She does not have a personal life as such. Friends are only two, this is an old neighbor and Zelda, a colleague at work. Her life abruptly changes when one of the laboratories where she works brings a mysterious creature, an amphibian man, caught by agent Richard Strickland in the Amazon open spaces.

The heroine begins to look at the object, treats him with boiled eggs to the melodies of his favorite musical works. Over time, full mutual understanding arises between them. And when scientists decide to dissect a human amphibian, for further study, Eliza organizes an escape.

As I said earlier, the atmosphere of the film is very well felt in every frame, very much is thought through to trifles, which you can not even notice, but it is such a detailed study that makes you plunge into what is happening on the screen with your head :)

A separate mention deserves a color scheme in which the whole film, shades of blue and green with elements of red for such a film, the best solution, which completely justified itself, is sustained.
Actor's game is very happy, in my opinion, all look harmonious and in their places and gave all 100%, especially worth mentioning the game of Michael Shannon, who once again excellently played the role of villain. The stylization of the amphibian was excellent, although I had a small association with the amphibian from Hellboy :)
To summarize, I can say with certainty that this film deserves attention and will not be a disappointment for connoisseurs of the works of Guillermo del Toro.
