This weekend my girlfriend and I decided we wanted to go watch a movie, we narrowed that movie down between "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "War For the Planet of the Apes." We decided on going to see War For the Planet of the Apes (clearly), where we live we have this massive theater which is called The Big D, leather seats, massive screen, and an unreal sound system. This was the deciding factor between the two seeing as "War," for short, had a showing in there.
We arrived at the theater minutes before the previews started, we hurried through the line, got our tickets, drinks, and popcorn. After buttering up our popcorn and selecting the drink of our choice, we eventually made it into the theater, in which we noticed, all the good seats were taken. Taking the loss for what it was, we went and got ourselves the mediocre seats towards the end of the middle row.
After several previews we make it to the movie, in big, beautiful letters, the title comes on the screen. This is about the time I hear a faint "Oh crap!" to the left of us, this couple gets up and scurries out, presented with the best seats in the movie theater, we give it a few minutes before snatching up the seats.
The Movie
"War" is a very well orchestrated movie, a story that can captivate you for the entire time you are there, the movie is almost two and a half hours long. It was truly emotional and sweet at some points, as well as having the best comic relief a movie about apes can have. Seriously, if you want a movie with absolutely hilarious scenes in it, look no further my friend "War For the Planet of the Apes" is your stop.
The opening scenes of this movie show the humans mounting a small recon expedition up a mountainside and coming across a wall where the apes have entrenched themselves. The humans take cover behind whatever they can find, with the recon leader scoping out the area and reporting to the Colonel, he responds with the orders to attack. This foreshadowed how the rest of the movie is about the Colonel and his hatred against the apes.
With the pressure of the humans reaching him and his fellow apes, Caeser is forced to make decisions in which put himself and others in danger in order to save his kind. With reports of a place believed unknown to the humans, he sees this as a way to save his fellow apes. But, not before he stops the Colonel and his men for what they have done to his people.
In this movie, there are certain aspects of the movie in which I had believed it would have been different. However, it did not change my opinion of the greatness of the movie, my overall feeling toward this movie is it portrays the characters as they were before in the past two movies. As well as, showing us the compassion in which the apes have for their people as well as some of the humans.
Conclusion:
This movie is a jaw dropping, awe producing, laughter creating sensation. I would highly recommend seeing this movie, as it includes great foreshadowing, tantalizing action, and heart-pulling emotion. I would even see this one again today if I had the time and the chance.
Overall Rating:
8/10
