I have been finding myself at the theater a bit more often lately. I used to actually work at a theater and see lots of early releases movies, but alas this is the first early screening I've seen in a while. The movie comes out tomorrow and if you are a fan of action flicks I can soundly recommend it. The cast was for the most part great, the plot was predictable as most action movies are now, and it's got Kevin Spacey in it so there's that. I'm a House of Cards fan, so I like Spacey, but to be honest he is starting to come across like a one trick pony lately. I won't do spoilers, but like I said the movie is predictable to a fault.
The action sequences are what everyone will go and see this for I'm sure, but the surprise is that the half baked and ridiculous love story is probably as good as the action sequences. For a movie about a guy that drives getaway cars, there's not much driving. Don't get me wrong, there are several top notch over the top, and in my mind, at least as good as the Fast and the Furious franchise driving sequences, but most of the movie is about character building surprisingly. The whole movie is under two hours long and while I wish it would have chosen what it wanted to be a little better, I think it was worth seeing at least once for sure. I found I could relate to it on many levels and the "ridiculousness" of it wasn't all that bad. If you see it, I'd love to hear your perspective. Namaste.
