What an absolute crazy story, and the most insane part is that it actually happened not too long ago.

I recall hearing about this when I was still young, the Chernobyl disaster happened on 26 April 1986, and for the most part was kept very much hush hush by the Soviet Union. Basically what happened was the No. 4 nuclear reactor in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant suffered a reactor core meltdown due to design flaws and breach of protocol during simulated power outage safety test. This was one of the two worst nuclear disasters in history, the other being the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

This new five part mini series on HBO takes a closer look at what exactly happened, and how the socialist, communist Soviet government tried to cover it all up. The show paints a very grim picture of the effects of what nuclear radiation looks like and what the long term effects eventually were. I would definitely recommend you give this a watch, there were two things that really struck me. This first was the official deaths as recorded by the Soviet government that too this day remain unchanged. The other was just exactly how horrible a socialist or communist society actually is, this show gives a real life refection of the horrors of these ideologies.
