If you saw my post about thee book "1001 movies you must see before you die". You'll know that I am atempting to watch all 1001 movies. This is my review of Steamboat Bill, Jr. (movie #43)
Steamboat Bill, Jr.
Compared to the Keaton movie with the similar name that I reviewed earlier: Sherlock, Jr. this one's not as good. That's not to say that this is a bad movie, just in my opinion the other one was better. But that is mostly in terms of the story. Like the previous one this one has some great visual comedy and stunts.
Something I didn't mention in the Sherlock review is that alot of newer movies borrow alot from Buster Keaton. I know that Jackie Chan's movie Project A (which I have not yet checked out) has borrowed alot from silent classics.
That shows just how great Keaton was at visual comedy for it to later be featured in other movies. He made some great movies that will be remembered for a long time. If not on their own in other people movies.
Score: 7/10
