Do you like Star Wars? Do you enjoy a well told story? Are you a sucker for hopeless romances and heroic adventures? Then look no further!
Today I ventured into the ominous darkness of my local theater to watch the Han Solo movie, and while I've no intention of giving away any spoilers, I'd like to just take a few minutes to talk about what I just spend 2 hours of my life on.
Before going in there I'd read a few reviews and they were all kinda negative which, to be absolutely honest, was not such a big surprise as you might think. I've grown accustomed to the fact that I tend to love the movies that the critics hate and vice versa.. it's sort of has become a law of my own little universe.
What I read did give me reason to wonder though, if the movie would be just a tiny bit as bad as the reviews proclaimed, so it was with a mix of expectations I parked my lovely behind in the plushy seat.

Obviously it's a trend these days to hate on all thing Star Wars that isn't the original trilogy, specially if you consider yourself a "true" fan, both because Disney bought the franchise but also because the internet is filled with keyboard warriors who get's off on trashing everyone and everything it seems.
So here I am, trying to be super unique and one of a friggin' kind, and actually liking the movies without being too much of a Disney/Lucas fanboy. So now you are warned..
In my opinion Han Solo is solid movie that portrays it's main character in a low-key, humorous and quite spot on way. The action is solid and the graphical side is impressive and submersible. If you love the diverse Star Wars universe you'll enjoy the various planets and locations that the movie takes your through. I quite enjoyed the casted actors and I think they do a great job portraying their characters in the nitty gritty worlds that our heroes and villains find themselves in.
The movie is not at any point really super exciting and the speed/flow of the movie tends to slow down a bit too much for my taste. I mean, obviously we all kind of know where the plot is heading if you have any knowledge of the star wars universe so the whole "oh my god is he gonna make it" feeling isn't really there at all, since - you know - he has to be alive for the movies that follow on the time table (if you don't know the Han Solo movie is chronologically set before the original first movie "Star Wars IV - A new Hope").
All in all I can only recommend watching Han Solo. It's not a masterpiece but it's good story that is being told well with just enough humor to not be decidedly silly, enough action to keep you interested, enough romance for those with a soft heart and enough references to the rest of the other movies to keep you go "ahhh" more than once.
See it before your neighbor and come back here and tell me what you think, although, no spoilers! (this whole thing got way longer than intended, if you've made it this far I salute you... may the force be with you or something)
