This is basically how I felt last night.
There's a good movie in there, but Waititi cannot resist the urge to make dumb jokes and to turn Thor into the butt of most of those jokes. Some of it works, but where there should be legitimate pathos, it usually gets undercut by a cheap laugh.
This also means Thor's character is super inconsistent. For the vast majority of the movie, he's really, reeeally stupid - and in some cases, he's outright incompetent at some things that make no sense for him to be bad at, like rallying civilians to a sense of heroic bravery before a battle or consoling frightened children.
After 5,000 years of wars and conquests and as the primary protector of Asgard for most of that time, the idea that he would be bumbling around, causing his people to panic instead of helping them feel more secure is... Weird.
But also, not very "Thor-like".
Gor, the God Butcher, is not played for laughs, but his back story is not nearly as well told as it should have been, and after a few minutes at the very beginning, we never really return to anything that would make me empathize with his mission - even though it's a pretty interesting one in theory.
Worse, his mission and the terror that he would generate in the execution of his mission is - again - severely undercut by the 5 Jokes a minute approach Waititi has taken.
If I were to rate the film on a scale of 1-10, I'd honestly have to give it a 6 at best.
I didn't totally hate it, but its problems will magnify on re-watch.
