This article articulates my thoughts on “Don’t Look Up” better than I would. TLDR version is 1) climate change is not an existential threat to humanity, and climate change amelioration has real costs. We need to balance these costs, because going too far in either direction could be catastrophic (though again, not existentially so) and 2) Media, politicians, and billionaires are not to blame for every fucking thing that goes wrong in the world. In fact, if I had to assign blame, the electorate takes the lions share of blame, and “media,” politicians, and billionaires are just randos from among them, who do somewhere between much better and only about as bad as your average voter would do in their position.
Joe Manchin is somehow the only person standing between us and a complete government takeover of the economy that would cause an economic collapse on par with the Fall of Rome.
Trump is probably going to be the 47th President of the United States. This is because Republicans are fascists, and Democrats fundamentally reject any opposition to fascists that isn’t communism.
