Our movie for today is a very interesting one, titled "FIFTY".

Lets just put our minds together and be ready to learn amazing lessons from this amazing movie and guess what?
There will be free plastics of ice-cream and popcorn for the people who have decided to put their minds here. 😊😊

Fifty centers around 4 beautiful women in their 50’s from different backgrounds, going through different challenges.

Elizabeth (Ireti Doyle) is a renowned gynecologist with a liking for guys way younger than her. She is famously known for her boy toys, and it eventually caused a rift in her relationship with her daughter.

Tola (Dakore Akande) is a very wealthy woman with her own television show. She is spoilt and downgrades everyone at the slightest opportunity. Unfortunately for her, she is not lucky with love as her husband is cheating on her with another important character.

Kate (Nse Ikpe Etim) is a party planner working for Tola. She is diagnosed with a chronic illness and she eventually becomes a church maniac. She is seen reciting the Hail Mary (which is for catholics) and firing prayers too.

Maria (Omoni Oboli) is a successful woman who is having an affair with a married man, Kunle (Wale Ojo) and eventually gets pregnant for him.

THE GOOD

The production was spot on and very impressive.

I liked how they showcased all the beautiful parts of Lagos, including the beautiful Lekki-Ikoyi bridge.

My favorite character was definitely Ireti Doyle. She is an amazing actress and she acted her role very well. She had a proper mix of fluent English, Yoruba and pidgin. Tbh, 5 stars for killing that role girl!

I was also impressed with the sex scene. I mean, was that Emmanuel Ikubese’s butt I saw??

I liked the appearance of major entertainers like KSA, Waje, Femi Kuti and even Nneka.

I felt Nse Ikpe Etim also acted pretty well. She has a way with tears and she didn’t hesitate to shed them.

Chichi (Pastor Lala) the maid was a great actress too. She adopted the role very well.

THE BAD

I felt Omoni Oboli and Dakore Egbuson didn’t give it their best. In my own opinion, they didn’t play the part of 50 year olds. The literally acted like their age.

The ending of the movie got me like “Hol up, is that the end or?” It was rushed. I mean a quick end to such beautiful story line. One moment I was like “Yasss this Nigerian movie is making sense, then the “Nigerian” part of the movie showed its ugly head”. It was so unfair to end the movie like that.

I didn’t understand Tola’s mother, tbh she acted 50 instead of older.

In conclusion, I rate the movie a 7/10. It deserved all the awards it won, however I would have preferred a better ending. Also, I think other actresses aged 45 and above would have played the 50 role well instead of Dakore and Omoni.
