I love sci-fi and mystery genres but, once in a while, a feel good movie is all I ask for cheering me up. For this post, I selected 5 great movies I recommend that will put you in a good mood and make your day happier.
1. 3 idiots
Farhan, Raju and Chatur are settled with their professional and personal lives, but none of them have heard from their friend, Rancho, even ten years after college graduation. After hearing about the possible location of their college bud, the friends begin their journey in the search of Rancho. While they try to find his location, they go through their college memories. In the past, Rancho taught them the importance of thinking differently and being happy, while they go through numerous adventures.
I know I say this for other movies, but this one must be my favourite ‘feel good’ movies of all time. It’s a very entertaining movie. I’m not a fan of flashbacks in movies/tv shows, but flashbacks are used in a pleasant way. Although it’s a long movie, you don’t feel like the story line is slow or tiring to watch. On the contrary, it’s enjoyable from start to end.
Don’t be fooled by its title, ‘3 idiots’ is far from being silly or dumb. It’s a rather intelligent story about friendship, positivity, life and love. No matter what, life is good and, quoting from the movie, ’all is well’. It’s such a joy to watch. I’m sure you will have a smile on your face, if you watch this movie.
2. Spy
Susan Cooper is an undervalued CIA analyst, which job is to give instructions to agents in missions. After years succeeding in her job, Susan stays anonymous while other people are given the credit for her successful missions. When the CIA agents are not available for an important mission, Susan decides to go undercover in a dangerous mission, even though she has no field experience.
I went to the cinema to watch this movie and, while watching it, I was laughing out loud, literally - though I don’t usually laugh on comedy movies. Besides comedy, it's also an action movie, so if you like action with a good laugh, this movie might be perfect for you. Melissa McCarthy plays a funny, interesting and captivating character that will prove not to be your typical secret CIA agent. It's brilliant, hilarious movie that will put you in a good mode.
3. Guardians Of The Galaxy
In his youth, Peter Quill was captured and taken away from Earth by spacial pirates. Years later, Quill steals a mysterious orb known to be coveted by a powerful villain, Ronan. When Ronan realises the orb's theft, bounty hunters target Peter to get the object back. Lacking options of survival, Quill joins a group of rather interesting characters. After realising the power of the stolen orb, the group join forces to fight Ronan and try to save the galaxy.
Imagine some superhero action with galactic adventure. Now mix amazing acting with hilarious references and a great soundtrack. That's Guardians of the Galaxy in a nutshell. The characters are special, captivating and unique in their own ways, making you feel attached to them. The special effects are a great asset, the comedy is pure and relatable. A great movie that will for sure make you happy.

4. School of Rock
After getting kicked out of a band, Dewey pretends to be his roommate, a substitute teacher in a elite elementary school. Dewey decides to replace the usual academic subjects with music, most specifically talking about Rock! When the ex-guitarist starts to teach the students to play instruments, he realises they could form a band to compete in a Band Battle.
If you're looking for an easy going, feel good and entertaining movie, this might the one. School of Rock is a good balance between comedy and good music . It makes you feel like rock and roll'ing along!
5. The Intouchables (Untouchable)
Based on a true story, 'The Intouchables' tells the story of Philippe, a quadriplegic millionaire with a difficult personality. In the search of a new caretaker, Philippe meets Driss, which only applies to the job to be able to keep receiving his welfare benefits. Driss is surprised when realises he actually got hired. The two characters get in a humorous and honest friendship that will be part of each other's lives.
I love movies based on true stories - there's something magical about knowing that the story you watched actually happened. The friendship between Dress and Philippe will most certainly warm your heart, not because it's perfect but because it's honest and vulnerable. The character development is very well made and pleasant to watch.
Did you watch any of these movies? What do you think? What other type of movies would you like me to talk about? Please let me know in the comments. :)
This is my dog Mel and she approves of the movies on this post.
