I've always been that weird guy that refuses to watch a movie that is overhyped until everyone has forgotten about it. I know it's silly, but I'm being honest here. That being said, I ended up caving in, simply because this movie was all over my feeds. After reading it had broken all records in the box office, I simply had to betray my silly little rule.
I won't lie, I've been an avid fan of comics for as long as I can remember, and even though I'm pushing forty, I still have a small collection of them. I'm fascinated by the stories, by the art and the psychological elements that are portrayed in these fictitious characters. The mental explorations have always fascinated me, and it's undeniable at this point that superheroes are very much part of our culture.
So, with revised expectations, because I did not want to be disappointed, I watched End Game. The movie is long, very long, but honestly It did not feel like it. I was entertained the whole way through, and what's even more important is that for the most part everyone had a chance to shine, without it feeling forced, which has always been my main critique when it comes to superhero films.
I won't reveal spoilers on this short post of mine, as I think that's a douche move to make, but I will say that you should be prepared for a not so happy ending. In other words, the storytelling is more powerful because they did not default into "everyone is happy in the end" mold that has bored me to death for more than a decade now.
Don't wait, go watch it... have fun.
