I must admit that even though I loved Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, I had my doubts about a sequel. Mostly because of China. The movie probably didn't get released in China because the lead actor, Simu Liu, had some unpleasant things to say about the country, as he and his family fled the country. Plus, even though the movie is the highest grossing movie in the U.S. for 2021, its total number is just 431 million dollars. It's a great number for the pandemic, but it is pretty low for a Marvel movie. Still, we shall get the sequel that we desire.
Director and writer Destin Daniel Cretton confirmed that he signed a deal with Disney to direct and write a sequel to Shang-Chi and a Disney+ show. I know that everyone is automatically thinking that it is a show about the Ten Rings, but online rumor is that it will be a comedic show. But he did sign a very large deal so maybe two movies and two shows, one comedic and one about the Ten Rings? It will be interesting to see.
Shang-Chi felt like it added a new layer and world to the MCU so it will be great to see this world expanding. And I can't wait to see it collide with other MCU properties.
Are you excited for the sequel?
