Charlie Chan and the Black Camel is one of the first of the Chan movies to feature Warner Oland in the title role. It also features Bela Lugosi as Tarniverro the Great (a fortune teller). It came out in 1931, the same year that Lugosi did Dracula. Also present are Dwight Frye- Renfield in Dracula- and a very young Robert Young, who television viewers may remember from Father Knows Best and Marcus Welby M.D.. The cast includes C. Henry Gordon, a Hollywood "bad guy" from the 1930's (recognizable in a sequence near the end wearing a sportcoat that looks like it was made from an awning or the seat-cover from a Pinto). If you're a Lugosi fan, you'll love this.
