The 1991 crime thriller New Jack City stars Wesley Snipes as Nino, leader of the Cash Money Brothers that runs a drug operation out of an apartment complex. As Nino builds his empire and begins to alienate himself from those who truly care about him, an ex-dealer turned cop (Ice T) goes undercover with a recovering crack addict (Chris Rock) to take Nino down from the inside.
I greatly prefer New Jack City over Menace II Society, in which I didn't really care about the characters in that to the extent of the characters in this film. Wesley Snipes has this knack for playing a villain that you can't help but like.
Ice T is also awesome in this role and turns Nino's philosophy of "It's never personal" around on him when he goes after him, off the books. Overall, New Jack City was a very well made crime film about the inner city ghettos with a fast, tight script.
