Introduction
Hi everybody,
I'm . This is my first time posting in Movies & TV shows and it is my first blog post for 2023. I usually post about Splinterlands or food but wanted to give writing movies or shows I watch a chance. The movie I'm covering today is Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo Of Deep Night. I watched this movie on Friday December 30 with my Korean and Japanese friend. We watched this movie at Petaling Jaya, 1 Utama, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) which is in Malaysia.
Cost of The Movie
The movie for three tickets was around RM55.50. I believe it was RM18 per ticket and the left over was reservation and tax fees. RM55.50 is around $13 USD.
My Thoughts On The Movie
I was a huge Sword Art Online fan since it's first season release which was in 2012. I was still in high school around this time. In my opinion, anime wise the first season is the best out of all the seasons that have been released so far. However, it never covered the whole 100 floors of Aincrad.
Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night covers floor 4 and 5 which was never covered in the first season of the anime. The plot was about the top 2 guilds having a conflict with each other when it came to resources in the game and a big part of that is from the floor boss monster drops. Kirito and Asuna wanted to maintain peace among the two guilds. I think this is basically the story in two sentences without having to spoil too much of the movie. The art for the movie was nice; it was really well done in terms of graphics. There was more dialogue than action which I did not expect. The movie wasn't too long and it wasn't too short. It had a total runtime of about 1 hour and 41 minutes if I'm not mistaken. I kind of wished that Argo or Mito would have died in the movie which would have gave it an interesting plot twist and maybe put some audience members to tears.
Conclusion
I was disappointed in the movie. It wasn't as action packed as I thought it would be. It was a bit over the top with the dialogue. I hope the next movie will deliver more action. In terms of Sword Art Online movies, I think Ordinal Scale was better than Scherzo of Deep Night. Overall the movie was alright but I don't think it was worth paying to watch at the movie theatres. I could have waited and watched this at home when a decent quality was released online.
