Myanmar is now trying to penetrate the export market for antidotes according to the official from the Myanmar Pharmaceutical Factory under the Ministry of Industry.
The foreign countries—Laos, Cambodia and Nepal have already offered to export the antidotes through the Embassies as the current production of antidotes is more than the local need, he said.
MPF opened the anti-venom manufacturing building, approved by WHO in 2016. Currently, the factory can produce 100,000 antidotes and the local need is just 80,000, he added.
Deputy General Manager, Myanmar Pharmaceutical Factory,
Dr. Aung Zaw: As the antidotes can last out three years, and we expect that the rate of snake bite cases in Myanmar is less than, we think that which countries can export our products and then we decided to export the three countries---Laos,
Cambodia and Nepal and now we have already offered to the concerned department because of the same species of snake. So, if they accept our offer, we will discuss the price of product.
Anti-venom serum is currently sold at 3,9000 kyats for one and the iced one costs 4,5000 kyats.
