Patrick Paige II - Voodoo
When I first heard Voodoo, I was refreshed. It reminded me of something straight off a D’Angelo album. I could feel the nostalgia in the first 30 seconds of the song. This song appears on Patrick’s debut album, Letters of Irrelevance, which will be released later this week (May 18th). Patrick Paige II is the bassist for the music group, The Internet.
Galimatias - South
This song sounds like something you would hear in the early 2000s. It's a nice break from the rap sounding r&b that has dominated the airwaves these days.
Saba - Prom King
While this song was released last month, it’s just too good to let people sleep on it. Saba is a talented hip-hop artist from Chicago, who garnered the attention of music heads with his mixtape, Bucket List in 2016. Last month he released his debut album which houses, “Prom King”, a detailed account of Saba and his cousin’s prom & life thereafter. The song gives the listener an idea of what it’s like to brave the streets of Chicago while trying make it out and fulfill your calling. It’s a story worth listening to over and over.
