I decided that as of this week I'm going to start trying to post my favorite Cover Songs every Tuesday.
This week I'd like to present you with not only one of my favorite songs ever but I'd definitely say my favorite cover song ever.
Without further ado I introduce to you my favorite of All-Time, which is Jimi Hendrix's rendition of Bob Dylan's song "All Along the Watch Tower"
Listen here:
Hendrix said “Sometimes I do a Dylan song and it seems to fit me so right that I figure maybe I wrote it. Dylan didn’t always do it for me as a singer, not in the early days, but then I started listening to the lyrics. That sold me.”
And after Hendrix's untimely death Dylan said of Hendrix's version "I liked Jimi Hendrix’s record of this and ever since he died I’ve been doing it that way… Strange how when I sing it, I always feel it’s a tribute to him in some kind of way.”
Just an all-around incredible song that really shows off how much of an incredible guitarist Hendrix truly was. I hope you enjoy and let me know if this is your favorite cover song ever or if there's something else you prefer? There are a ton of surprising songs that I didn't realize were covers while researching this idea for future posts that I'm really looking forward to sharing with you guys.
Until next time.
