"Music is life itself. What would this world be without good music? No matter what kind it is." - Louis Armstrong
Hello, hello...
Around here, it's been a very busy and l-o-n-g week, which made writing this post (about music) much more enjoyable than it probably should have been :P
BUT as Louis said, what would this world be without good music, indeed...
A friend once asked me one of those 'would you rather' questions, posing the idea of would you rather 'lose your hearing' or 'lose your eyesight'... and whilst knowing that losing the ability to use either one of those senses would be horribly, difficult to overcome, I did finally come to a decision after realising that music is the one thing that I could not bear to live without.
Hopefully, I never have to experience such a decision irl and I actually wondered whether I should write a post about this somewhat morbid question, however, at the time, when asked, it really did make me stop and contemplate my priorities in life.
More importantly, it made me question what was important to ME and how would I be affected if I were faced with either one of those realities.
That one simple question was all the motivation I needed to pick up my guitar and try learning one more time
And this time around, I've felt more inspired to learn than I ever have before... Idk, maybe my patience has improved with age (or something like that) but I'm now at a stage where I can confidently make the statement, 'I play guitar'.
I mean, of course, I'm still a beginner and may never move very far past this 'stage' (which is fine with me) but today, I feel like that statement is now a very TRUE statement.
Truer than it's ever been before...
AND to think this was all spurred on by just one simple, sobering thought.
As per usual, I've listed below the Number One Songs that were topping the Australian Charts in 1969 and for convenience, I've provided a link for you to easily have a quick listen to the song and (if you're as old as me) wonder where all those years went.
Australia Number One Songs - 1969
Edit: Bob Borst is back..! His website which is also my original source for the song list, is up and running once again.
