Live Jazz Concert Featuring Gabrielle Stravelli!
Last Tuesday was a magical day where I got the chance to sit in an amazing show by SPArKS. It was a night of jazz with Gabrielle Stravelli. First of all, I would like to thank
for the tickets. I was pretty busy with datelines closing in but I was managed to took one night off my screen to bring my girls to a Jazz Concert. I was afraid they're going to be feeling bored as not too many people favor Jazz. Lucky me, and with Gabrielle's beautiful voice, the girls and I were having so much fun.
We arrived half an hour late from when the doors open and we got the side sits. Black Box was filled with people of all ages. It was the first time I've seen such big audience in Black Box. We got our sits and ready for the show. When Gabrielle walks in, we were very excited, or it was just me. I was very excited. She introduced her band for the night to us. The double bass player is her husband, Pat. Which she cutely teases from time to time during the show. They are lovely. The pianist and the drum players are brothers and they are very young. They are so talented. I wish I could play Jazz on a piano. sigh.. When she started singing the first song, the room cheered. She sounds so amazing! What a beautiful Jazzy vocal. Her scats took our breath away. My friends' faces lit up.
Gabrielle even did a rendition on Willie Nelson's songs. Not one but two. It was beautiful when country music were played in Jazz style. The show was interesting because Gabrielle did an effort to educate us all before every song she sang about the song, the composer and lots of interesting stories behind each song. My favorite song of the night was Summertime. When she said it was her last two song, the crowd sigh and Gabrielle applauded us . She said, that's the right answers and that someone has taught us well. Haha.. She surprised us with a cover of P. Ramlee's Getaran Jiwa. It was a beautiful night. I glad I went and brought my girls along.
