Ok, here we go with another week of great music. So when someone tries to give you that "there isn't any good music anymore" speech you can son them. As always, I don't cover singles, but if you have and LP or an EP on the way or very recently released say something in the comments. I can't promise I will cover it but I will give it a listen and support with upvotes and resteems at the very least. Alright lets dig....
Ought -Room Inside The World
If you are into bands like Interpool or The National then you will most likely enjoy Ought. With their 3rd studio album Ought has come a long way from their humble beginnings of living in a rehearsal space together. Tim Darcy takes vocals to the next level with this record, his voices moves in directions you would never expect. This theme even runs through the guitar work, every turn has something new to offer. With driving rhythms, climactic builds and soothing riffs Room Inside The World is another great addition to the Canadian rock quartet.
Loma - Loma
Emily Cross of Cross Record and Jonathan Meiburg of Shearwater join Dan Duszynski to present Loma. I have always loved Shearwater and Emily Cross so this is a pretty exciting release. Loma's debut album floats through indie-rock structures grabbing from dance music sensibilities and electronic combinations. Emily's voice wafts through a bed of ethereal sounds while the rhythms move you like waves atop a calm sea. This is a great record to start your day with or simply relieve some stress.
Triathalon - Online
New York's Triathalon releases their 3rd studio album. If you have heard these guys before then you should be excited about this. Adam Intrator, Chad Chilton & Hunter Jayne form an almost Lynchian approach to RNB. While it is beautifully designed it also sounds disjointed from reality. Using quintessential sounds from 90's synths and keyboards with modern structures the band is truly unique. This is such a good album for any situation so make sure you add it to your library and groove through your day.
Kero Kero Bonito - TOTEP
Why does London have all the coolest bands? Well Sarah Midori Perry, Gus Lobban and Jamie Bulled bring you a new EP that you arent soon to forget. The band is really hard to pin down in terms of genre (which I love), they deliver a hodgepodge of alt-pop, indie rock, eletro, experimental, and straight up noise-music. If I had a daughter I would hope she were listening to this over whatever pop star corporate america is shoving at them. Kero Kero Bonito is brave, wild, organized, and easy to listen to all in one. This EP has a lot of big songs that you should be dancing to. Have fun and throw on TOTEP this weekend.
Fluidity - Deeper Vibe
Welp, if you see this logo and it means something to you than you might just be a junglist. Metalheadz is among the top 5 greatest Drum-N-Bass labels with a rich history of excellent curation. They always sign the best and it is no wonder why Fluidity is releasing records through them. Hailing from Bristol, UK Fuilidity is a DNB master blurring the lines between standard liquid-drum-n-bass and IDM. His music will take you on a journey no matter where you are. Riding those 180 bmps packed with triplet clicks and high-hats to force you body moving. While combining minimalist bass lines and long drawn out pads. Deeper Vibe is a beautiful example of how far DNB has come over the decades. This pick is a shout out to , thanks for reminding me to check in with the DNB community when picking my reviews. I'll keep doing that.
These are my 5 favorite new releases this week, I have to say it was hard to choose, there is so much great music out there. Let me know what you thought of these in the comments or find me on Discord. Let's talk about music! Suggest some upcoming releases to cover!
