Recently I've been scheduled to play a few gigs with a cellist, which was a pretty interesting experience. Usually, the soloist has a higher range so it's easier for them to stand out. A cello has a much lower range so when accompanying on the grand piano, I have to be more aware of my soloist.
My agent has requested a few songs from the musical - 'The Greatest Showman'. I thought it'd be good to share some of my works here. It's really simplified so don't expect elaborate transcription.
'Never Enough' appeared in the scene where Jenny Lind wanted more than a working relationship with P. T. Barnum. An interesting fact about this song is that, unlike the rest of the songs in the show, this song is actually dubbed. Loren Allred (nope, she does not have a wiki page yet) is the singer instead of Rebecca Ferguson.
Let it stay this way
Can't let this moment end
You set off a dream with me
Getting louder now
Can you hear it echoing?
Take my hand
Will you share this with me?
'Cause darling without you
All the stars we steal from the nightsky
Will never be enough
Never be enough
Towers of gold are still too little
These hands could hold the world but it'll
Never be enough
Never be enough
Never, never
Never, never
Never, for me
For me
Never enough
Never enough
Never enough
For me
For me
For me
All the stars we steal from the nightsky
Will never be enough
Never be enough
Towers of gold are still too little
These hands could hold the world but it'll
Never be enough
Never be enough
Never, never
Never, never
Never, for me
For me
Never enough
Never, never
Never enough
Never, never
Never enough
For me
For me
For me
Here's my chord chart for 'Never Enough'. My preferred app for charting is iReal Pro. It's really convenient for transposing. When playing pop gigs, especially Mandarin/Canto pop, I rely on forScore.
