Lenny Kravitz "Let Love Rule"
Taken from the album "Let Love Rule" (Virgin, 1989)

I listened to Lenny Kravitz for first time just some weeks after "Let Love Rule" was out in 1989. A friend of mine had bought the vinyl and I listened to it at his house. It was awesome. I went to some record stores in Barcelona trying to find the vinyl but didn't find it. Those days I bought my first cd player. In summer 1990 I went on a trip with my parents to Paris. As usual, when I see a record store I need to go inside and check the vinyls and cd's. In Paris it wasn't different, I went to a big Record Store and check the music (as my parents were waiting impatiently for me). There was "Let Love Rule" in cd, and of course I bought it. But couldn't listen to it until I came back home some days later.
Before his massive success and his turn towards pop melodies and less rock, Lenny Kravitz was an incredible artist. I can say that "Let Love Rule" and "Mama Said" were two albums that I listened dozens of times and I still get excited listening to tracks like "I Build This Garden For Us", "Mr. Cab Driver", "Sittin' On Top Of The World" or "Let Love Rule". When I saw him live in Barcelona some years later, emotions came to me, especially when he played "Let Love Rule" to close the concert.
This was the awesome setlist at the "Palau d'Esports de Barcelona" concert (according to setlist.fm)
