Steemit open mic week 128 - So long (original) @graemesaxton
As a curator, one of the things I take the most pleasure in here on the blockchain is "discovering" that great new author. Getting them that first big reward, sometimes their first reward here on the platform. Getting them the attention they deserve. I have had the privilege of getting many authors their first Curie vote. It never gets old. This week I managed to get someone a vote on their very first post ever. I don't know for certain, but it is rare, something that has only been done two or three times to my knowledge. In order for it to happen the author has to post something truly exceptional.
Meet Graeme Saxton a 30-year-old Scottish singer/songwriter from central Scotland who has been writing songs for about a decade. While talking with Graeme he shared that he writes about things he finds difficult to talk about. A sentiment I think many songwriters would say. The songs he has written deal with topics like loss, addiction, suicide, depression, and heartbreak. He then joked "mostly heartbreak, all the hits."
This song in particular he says that he, "...wrote it about a girl that he really loved. It was incredibly hard to write despite being incredibly simple bacause it's about letting someone go, not because she hurt me, but because I hurt her so much that if I cared about her at all, I needed to let her try to forget me. Which was hard to accept for a long, long time."
Not only did he get his first ever Curie vote on his first post, but this week's OpenMic results post just came out a little while ago, and he took the first place prize this week! To see the full results to this week's competition check out the results post here.
I do hope he sticks around on the blockchain for a long time, and realizes not every post will get this much attention. I am very pleased to have played a small part in this one getting lots of great attention, and hope it springboards him into a long history of great posts to share his talent with us all.
So stay tuned to his blog page to see what he does next.

Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim
Another great thing about the platform is that you get a chance to see so many things you would otherwise never see. The majority of us will never get to travel to Germany, even if we do, less will wind up going to an automobile and technology museum while there. Whether it be an art museum in France, an oddities museum in England, or a natural history museum here in the U.S., someone will visit and share photos or video from their trip. It allows us all to see some great places we never even knew we wanted to see.
Our next featured author, visited the Auto & Technik Museum in Sinsheim, Germany and got some great video footage of everything from classic automobiles to machines of war, and various types of aircraft. As he roams among the more than 3,000 exhibits he shares some of the history of the vehicles along with all the great views.

Hidden Waterfalls of Tujunga
As Jesse said:
"I love to explore and find adventure wherever I can. Life is short and I'm trying to make the most of my short time here on this amazing planet."
If only more of us had that outlook! Until then we will just have to live vicariously through Jesse's adventurous nature. Be sure to go check out his blog page to check out some of his recent posts about things like canyoneering, his near death experience in Indonesia, the Mojave Lava Tubes, and even survival tips on how to start a fire with a bag of water or a battery.

ALTERNATE STATE
"A deep and somewhat dark overtoned experimental song, with orchestral and techno-ish styled parts"
For me, it just has something that takes hold of you and won't let go until it is over. I find it somewhat entrancing or hypnotic. It also has a very meditative aspect to it.
The author also says,
"It's got that epic movie soundtrack thing going on"
I can definitely hear that as well. Different parts of it would be great during some montage of someone out searching for something, while other parts would fit right into a sci-fi thriller or horror film.
