Although Nick Cave is a highly appreciated musician, songwriter and writer, he only occasionally flirted with the mainstream. Even when he did it, like in the duet with Kylie Minogue "Where the Wild Roses Grow", he served a dark story about murder musically wrapped in a catchy ballad.
Do You Love me is an excellent example of a song that requires effort to understand and enjoy it. The lyrics are way beyond just another popular song and it will not be wrong to call the song poetry.
The song talks about duality of a relationship with a woman or as he states in one of the lines:
I found God and all His devils insider her

"Do You Love Me" appears on Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' album "Let Love In" from 1994. The song opens the album, while "Do You Love Me part 2" closes it.
Do You Love Me part 2's story is not related to the first part and it is based on the story 'The Juniper Tree' by Peter Straub that talks about child rape:
Nick Cave has a considerable influence on my music. His complex texts and amazing music have depth that makes me always come back and consume his work.
