Sometimes you see a band.
Sometimes you see a band you’ve waited TWENTY YEARS to see.
Zebrahead opening things up with a fierce high energy set.
On Friday, July 27 we headed to downtown Seattle’s iconic Showbox at the Market to see the bands Zebrahead and MxPx.
Zebrahead were slated as the opening act, but in my mind were the headliners. They came onto stage with HUGE energy complimented by their unique punk rap style. The band is fronted by rapper Ali Tabatabaee and lead singer/guitarist Matty Lewis. Rounding out the group are Dan Palmer (lead guitar), Ben Osmundson (bass) and Ed Udhus (drums).
The band got their start in La Habra, California in 1995 and have released a total of 12 studio albums. I have loved them since 1999. 😍 Maybe that isn’t fair to say. More fair would be I LOVED them in 1999.
So for a month pre-show I started begging them over social media play my favorite of their songs... Get Out
But my song wasn’t in their set. 😢😥😰😭
Devastating....
Despite their blantant disregard of my begging (😂), the show was fantastic. We stood right against the stage, people were moshing, band members crowd surfed, someone was dressed as a panda... intense. Sweaty. Tons of fun.
I recorded their performance of the song Hello Tomorrow. It’s in two parts because someone slammed into me from behind causing me to accidentally stop recording.
Hello Tomorrow - Part 1
Hello Tomorrow - Part 2
My disappointment at not hearing “my song” did earn me a mention in the band’s Instagram story and a DM post show.
😬

Headliners - local boys MxPx!
MxPx are a pop punk band from Bremerton, WA, a town just a ferry ride away from Seattle. MxPx formed (under a different name)in 1992 while the members were still attending Central Kitsap High School. Current members include lead singer Mike Herrera (PS - he and his wife just bought a home in Waco and were featured on Fixer Upper), Tom Wisniewski on guitar, Yuri Ruley on drums and Chris Adkins on rhythm guitar.
We didn’t stay for the whole set, but we did stay for this local favorite.
Move to Bremerton
Mike Herrera breaks it down.
