In light of our current sociopolitical climate, I felt it'd be appropriate to share an underground single: "Feet Planted"
(The link to the music is a few paragraphs down—but I don't endorse skipping ahead.)
This song was written and conceptualized during a period of particular frustration with "the system"—a frustration that, unfortunately, has only intensified.
There are many forces in our world that act to suppress and discourage independent thought; our minds are constantly being influenced by increasingly aggressive controlling parties who are doggedly determined to govern our thought processes and lifestyles to suit their private agendas: "FALL IN LINE!"
It goes like this:
Create solidarity by entrancing the masses with corrupted slogans of freedom and righteousness while simultaneously feeding to them a demonized and dehumanized enemy who threatens to abolish their way of existence—
—once the prescribed dose of FEAR has been administered and digested—deliver to them the idea of SAFETY in exchange for CONTROL.
“As long as you heed the warning and obey the commands bellowed from the loud-speakers, good will prevail and evil will be stamped out like a smoldering cigarette in the dry grass!”
Sound familiar?
It's a tactic that has been implemented on our minds—on small and large scales—our entire lives.
This section of Mankind's Playbook is so worn from use—and the text so defiled by oils absorbed into the page from the repeated visits of humanity’s thumb—that only two, smudged words of text remain legible in the upper left corner of the page: “THE PLAY.”
Feet Planted is a call-to-action to start seeing, thinking, and acting deliberately, independently, and with purpose. To call into question what is heard, what is read, and what is passively accepted in an effort to forcibly extract some of the barbed transmitters that have been unwittingly sunk into our psyches.
I encourage you all to crank up the speakers and try it on:
“Feet Planted” lyrics
Too many people
Wearing loaned armor
In another man’s fight
Won’t stand in waged ranks
Fly my own colors
Die by my own right
Let me see it
Let me feel it
Let me hear it
Feet planted and fighting.
Let me see it
Let me feel it
Let me hear it
Feet planted and fighting.
Tattooed creeds
Shouted beliefs
Red flags in the wind
Create the threat
Rule by fear
Under guise of protection
Let me see it
Let me feel it
Let me hear it
Feet planted and fighting.
Let me see it
Let me feel it
Let me hear it
Feet planted and fighting.
Show you what to read
Tell you what to think
Show you what to read
Tell you what to think
Show you what to read
Tell you what to think
Show you what to read
Tell you what to think
Assign your enemies.
Let me see it
Let me feel it
Let me hear it
Feet planted and fighting.
Let me see it
Let me feel it
Let me hear it
Feet planted and fighting.
Let me see it
Let me feel it
Let me hear it
Let me know it
Let me see it
Let me hear it
Feet planted and fighting.
Let me see it
Let me hear it
Let me feel it
Let me know it
Let me see it
Let me hear it
Feet planted and fighting.
Planted and fighting.
Planted and fighting.

"Balmain has emerged with an album that sounds like it could have come out of Detroit in the early-1970s or Muscle Shoals in the late-1970s. It’s a vibrant and rich mix of rock and soul that has all of the swagger of the feel-good decade...(Brian F. Johnson, MARQUEE MAGAZINE )
