My son's mentor died from a bad batch of heroin about three years ago. Kris's death was a brutal and unexpected blow as it was his first time back to the drug that had been his demon long ago.
He and my son had plans and those plans were crushed and gone forever. The death of Kris was in a long line of those who tragically left too young out of my family's life. I think of Kris often and the possibilities lost.
Heroin was a big problem in the 70's. We later found out it was coming into America and being distributed under state control. I remember when "heroin chic" was a thing in the 90's. Were they just getting us ready for the wholesale distribution going on today since we took over the crops in Afghanistan?
I'm a big fan of Tokio Hotel and have been listening to them constantly since about 2011. Their music often focuses on social realism and this is one of the more realistic in my mind.
Here is the making of this video if you are interested to see how the filming went down.
I found running a music challenge at some point here at Steemit. It may be over, but I will bring it back if only to my page.
RIP Kris. You are not forgotten.
