It's not often I get to a live concert these days and to be completely honest I think it's due to laziness...OK, that's a lie...It's because I don't really like many people and being in a room full of them, strangers, doesn't fill me with a lot of enthusiasm. Still, sometimes I have to venture out into general-population and I manage to cope somehow. Crowds aren't my thing though.
We were supposed to go to the Tim McGraw concert, had tickets and all, but he cancelled the event - I'm still pissed at him and haven't listened to his music since. I'll get over it though, someday.
So, that concert was a non-event however I'm heading off to another shortly and I'm excited. This time I've paid for my ticket; The McGraw tickets were given to us as a gift from a friend. I'm going with a couple mates this time which should be interesting as one of the guys isn't much of a music fan - I know right? WTF. He struggles to see the point of music is what he says. What an idiot!
I'm off to see Halestorm , a rock band out of Pennsylvania, USA. I'm not sure if I'd label them heavy Metal as their music seems somewhat more diverse crossing into hard rock, alternative rock, alternative metal and quite possibly other genres also. They seem to have a good message though and I like the bad a lot. They're not my favourite band of all time, [Van Halen takes that title], but are certainly good enough for me to want to see them live. Besides, a night out with a couple nutbag-mates is always good.
One of them has just returned home from a 6-month deployment and the other is a cop so there's always something interesting to talk about - Not that we'll be able to talk at the concert of course. We'll grab a pizza and some beers after the concert and will chat then.
Below is a link to one of Halestorm's tracks if you're interested.
The concert is at The Gov which is a pretty cool venue - Not huge, but one that has atmosphere. The link will take you to their site if you want to check out what bands are coming up. I think there's a few tickets to Halestorm if you're interested - You can hang with the bros after too. You're most welcome.
Honestly I'm not sure what element I'm more keen on, Halestorm or a night out with a couple buddies. Like I said earlier, I'm not a peopley-person usually but I love catching up with like-minded ones and I'm sure this night will be a pretty good one considering the two guys I'll be out with - We may get arrested!
It'll be a very late one too I'm guessing. That's a bit of a worry because it's a Monday night so I have to work the next day...Or have a sickie. Oh well, I'll blame it on the boogie.
i'm really looking forward to the night and to seeing these two mates. We don't get together much, not the three of us all together, due to work and family commitments but when we do we seem to slip into the same easy friendship we've always had. They're good guys, responsible, educated, funny, but also hard-core get-after it sort of dudes. The sort of dudes you want in the trenches with you. We're like the three musketeers, but without swords and muskets...OK, we may have swords and muskets.
It's funny you know, every time I go out with these guys Faith says, "be careful", really stressing the point...I guess she's just going by past events...Events that ended...Well...In an undesirable way I suppose.
I always say to her, "how much trouble could I get into with a cop and an Army Captain?" She retorts with a withering stare at me and says, "be careful."
"Yes babe, you know me." 😇
Bring on Halestorm night!
