This is a random creation
from last night, which started with the drum beat. I just added some effects, and decided to build on top of it. Generally, I like the idea, though I think the tones of the pianos and synth basses probably could be a little cooler, so maybe I'll continue working on this and ironing out the details. I mostly stuck to instruments from the Native Instruments Komplete Start Package, though there are a few others mixed in (a bass from LABS, some drums from Ableton's packs). I wrote the bassline before the piano, and basically just droned along on a B the whole time, except for the 'pink' sections, which seems limiting, but wound up working nicely with the 4 chord progression.
Listen to Be Mine or Groove
Tracks 1, 2 and 3 are the drums,
with the kicks and snares in Track 1, following a straight 1/2 note rhythm, while the hihats use an 1/8th note swing groove, which gives it a sort of wobbly feeling. Tracks 4 and 5 are the keys, with the basic chords outlined in Track 4, and a more filled in version in Track 5. We begin on a Bmin 7, down to an E, then a G, before resolving to Bmajor. The pink section changes a bit, starting on G, then down to E (the second, it is followed by a G down to Emin). In the last group, we have the synth bass tracks, which play the same progression, just using two sounds to fill things out a bit, and finally, we have some audio clips in Track 9 to accent the beginning of certain sections.
