I had limited time last night
to sit down and write anything, so I figured another timed challenge would be fun. I went with 30 minutes this time, and got on a bit of a roll; this is probably the most 'dense' timed track I've ever done. A lot of the tracks just use the same basic progression, but I did spend a decent amount of time picking out sounds, instead of the usual sort of gamble I take with these timed things, where I just click and hope for the best, lol. All in all, I like the results here. I think with some more work (post-the allotted 30 minutes, of course), this could turn out to be pretty cool. I think the changes between sections are a bit rough, if they even exist, so that would be something I'd want to iron out a bit more.
Listen to breathe here.
Tracks 1, 3, 8 and 10 all use
the same basic progression for the 'A section', though only 1, 3, and 8 are used for the B section. Track 2 was actually where I started, which is a synth string from 'Equator', a new tool that comes with ROLI product purchases. I recorded it into an audio track, and reversed each chord, which gives it a cool up and down, wavy sort of swell. Tracks 4 and 5 are both our drum tracks, though for almost all of the 30 minutes, only Track 4 was in the song. At the last minute, I added Track 5, in an attempt to make the drums sound a bit different, as I didn't love the tone of Track 4 by itself. I'm not sure if this will make the cut when I revisit this for future edits, but we'll see.
The last two tracks that are doing
something unique are number 7 and 9. Track 7 provides a little melody line over certain A sections, and Track 9 is the bass synth. Track 9 mostly sticks to a little progression, F to G to F for all of the A sections, though it changes a bit in the B sections, playing the bass notes of each chord.
