This started out as just a test
of a new instrument from Spitfire Audio's LABS, the dulcimer, which I had previously not installed. The first three tracks utilize its various articulations, with the normal pluck in Track 1, an arpeggiated effect in Track 2, and a glass slide in Track 3. Everything else was added later, as I really liked the sound of the dulcimer, so I figured I'd start layering things on top and see if I could turn this into something. Overall, I'm happy with the results; the song is in 5/4, but because the chords are spaced out so much, you don't really feel the beat until the drums come in, which provide a really wild, spastic sort of rhythm.

Track 4 is the first that doesn't
use the dulcimer, instead using some cellos from LABS, which I bounced to an audio clip, and added some pitch bends to make it feel really spacey. Theres a bunch of a tracks for drums, with the next most important instrument, the bass, in Track 8. Every instrument that follows is used for little transitions, or to accent certain sections. I didn't want to fill things in too much, as I liked the sparse instrumentation, with the floaty, reverb laden stuff around the edges.
