This is one of the few "metal" songs I recorded a few years back when I was in this kind of math-metal band the Steaks. This was a song we never performed live, I had only recorded it on my own with digital drums, and then the band broke up. I was definitely listening to a lot of Mastodon and Baroness at the time, and it definitely shows in these couple of tracks I'll be sharing. It's definitely metal, but its very old school metal (just rock I suppose) influenced with the chuggy riffs. I definitely tried to avoid using any typical metal riffs and to just write songs that I thought sounded good, whether or not they would fit into a modern "metal" style or not. I think since I grew up more into punk, I've always been okay with a certain level of simplicity rather than just trying to be as virtuosic as possible.
This song's A part has a measure of 8 and then a measure of 7, and the B part is entirely in 7.
