Bent Knee - lovemenot
Bent Knee is a band I discovered
via YouTube; I frequent Adam Neely's channel, and he's friends with guitarist/songwriter/singer for Bent Knee, Ben Levin, who also produces content on YouTube. Levin has a number of musical projects, including the Ben Levin Group, but I particularly like Bent Knee. The group is made up of Courtney Swain (lead vocals, keyboards), Ben Levin (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jessica Kion (bass guitar, backing vocals), Gavin Wallace-Ailsworth (drums), Chris Baum (violin, backing vocals), and Vince Welch (synthesizers, rhythm guitar, sound design, production). All the members are incredibly accomplished and talented musicians, and each bring a really unique element to the band.**

This is a new track from the group's
most recent release, You Know What They Mean, which came out at the end of last year. The band continues with their experimental, quirky originality on this release, and has written some songs that have quickly become favorites for me. Although all the members are capable of incredibly dense, complex performance, they only utilize these elements to serve the songs as whole pieces, without ever feeling 'show-offy' or pretentious. They also have a great collective sense of humor, never taking themselves too seriously.
