This is a cool little song/idea
from last night, using just instruments from Spitfire Audio's LABS library (which are totally free; I highly recommend them for any musicians out there). I was listening to the Simon & Garfunkel song I shared yesterday, 'Old Friends', and sort of took the first two chords from that as inspiration for this entire song. It's all based around that same rhythmic pattern, and the idea of moving from a IVmaj7 to a Imaj7, though that's the only portion that is similar. Old Friends goes on to a whole other progression and rhythmic pattern, while this song sticks to that same 1/4 note + dotted 1/2 note progression for most of it.
Listen to Jazzish here.
We have two sections here,
the A section in Light Blue, and the B section Purple. This song starts a Fifth up from the tune it was inspired by, on a Cmaj7 down to Gmaj7, which repeats 2x, followed by Ebadd9 to D6, then Cadd9 to Dmaj7, and finally Cadd9 to Bmin7b5. The Purple section changes the rhythm a bit, playing 5 chords as 1/4 notes, and then holding out the 6th chord. Track 2 is just a string ensemble, which sticks to the low end, providing a single note line. I was thinking about adding more, so we'll see what this ideas morphs into over time. Track 3 are hand bells, which are only used for the B section, to accent the chord changes. Track is not in the final song, and was just me playing around with a staccato string ensemble.
