I didn't have any 'songs'
to share today, so I figured we'd go with a random 10 minute songwriting challenge from the other night. I was playing with some synths from Pianobook.co.uk, which I had sort of forgotten about, but definitely will be using more. The 'Niue' pack has some great sounds, which I could definitely use in more tunes; I just need to remember to search through my instruments folder... its a few clicks away, so I tend to use stuff thats easier/quicker to find, but I gotta break that habit, and use some new sounds. I just recorded 5 instruments, and staggered them throughout the song. The basic progression is just 2 chords, a D6 (D, A and B natural), and a Gmin (D, G and Bb), back and forth. The B to Bb adds an interesting dissonance, giving it that sort of mysterious, Dorian vibe. I do like this idea, but I'm not sure where it should/could go, so maybe I'll sit on it for a while, and see if I can't find a way to make it more of a tune.
