I continued to work on the idea
from yesterday, and wound up expanding the length quite a bit. I didn't add a new section, though I think the break sections may wind up being changed into a B part in the future. It is a bit repetitive, but I think there is enough variation in the synth fills and chord parts to keep things reasonably interesting throughout, though I still am going to experiment with a B part, see if it helps the vibe. I also organized all the tracks into groups, as you can see in the overview screenshot above; this makes it a little harder to type out descriptions, as you get an extra Track # for each group, but for myself, it makes things quite a bit easier. Starting at the top, the drums got altered a bit. I had accidentally doubled the snare/hi-hat parts for some reason, so I deleted one of those, and added a drum buss to both snares/hats and the kicks, which helped make them feel a bit bigger, despite being dropped in volume a little.
Track 18, New Synth Fill
Listen to ShevenToo here...
For the bass part, I wound up doubling then tripling the
original part; the first track that doubles it plays an octave up, dropped down in volume a bit, which really helped it cut through, and be a lot more clear, while the second track uses a different synth, with a much more subby, fat low-end, which helped fill in the gaps between the sparse kick hits a bit more and make the whole track feel a little more full. The synth fills had some more added to them, with Track 17 getting quite a bit more filled out the second and third time it comes in, and Track 18 being added as an entirely new track. Honestly, I'm not sure if I love Track 18; it provides a line that feels a bit too melodic, with the b6 coming in at the top of each line, so I may alter that, or drop it entirely and find something else to replace it.
