This is an idea from the other night
using more sounds from the ROLI and Strobe2 libraries, included with the 'Seaboard' keyboard I purchased a month or two ago. I think the general idea is cool, but the organization could use a little work; a few parts only play once, and should continue longer, while other parts need to cut out a bit soon. I'll probably work on this tonight a bit, and see if I can get things to come together a bit more, then spend some time mixing things and getting it to sound a bit nicer.
Listen to stringEDthingED here.
The main progression consists of two parts,
both of which are pictured below. Track 1 is where I began, which plays through the A part two times, and the B part once, then repeats, and ends with the B section again, as things fade out. Track 2 comes in over the 2nd A section and first B section each time around. Track 3 initially just plays the A section, but then provides a little melody line over the second A part; I wanted this to have a sort of off time, laggy feeling, which works at certain points, but I think the beginning of the melody needs to work a bit better, so that's on the to-do list/
Tracks 4, 5 and 6 all are used
over the B sections, and just accent the chord changes there with some new synth textures. These are generally in a much higher register, which helps those parts to stand apart from what came before. Track 7 comes in playing a melody line over the 3rd A section that comes in, but I think it should continue after that, as it feels a bit abrupt when it cuts off. Finally, we have Track 8, which plays the same A part chord progression as Tracks 1, 2 and 3, but only with Track 7, again, to make this stand apart from the stuff before it.
