This track, from US-based producer Jack Zaferes has such an interesting approach I'd better let him share his process...
I created Amygdala as a response to the anger and depression I felt due to losing everything during the pandemic. The 12 part piano melody at the start of the composition is based off of a technique I developed called "Molecular Rhythms". I take the neurotransmitter chemicals that are released in your brain during a panic attack and set those numbers of atoms to time signatures and play small melodies based on those time signatures to create the swirling cascade of notes at the start of the composition. I then repeat that for all four main chemicals excreted during a panic attack (Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine and Cortisol). The title of the track comes from the organelle in our brain responsible for our fear and anxieties the "Amygdala". The bass drum sounds in song comes from me dropping a calves brain in front of a pair of microphones and the snare sound comes from an exploding firework.
