Hello friends and family!
How's it going? I hope you're feeling well. Hooray! The weekend is just around the corner and what does that mean? It's time for another fabulous foreign find Friday! Cause it's Friday...where I live. Duh! So here weg go again.
I posted about some Japanese rap in this post, and since I was super curious, I had to look if there is more. And oh girl, there is plenty of it! Korea was not on the top of my list tbh; I looked for more Japanese stuff or maybe some Chinese reggae music. But suddenly I found this guy: Nafla. And I binge watched every youtube video of him.
Nafla (natural flavour), born on February 28, 1992, as Nicholas Choi is an American/Korean rapper. He was born an raised in Pasadena, California. If you put two and two together, you know where the west coast vibe is coming from ;) Frank Ocean is one of the artists Nafla would love to collaborate in the future, fingers crossed for this.

That video was sick!
Okay perhaps it was the Wu-Tang, I get triggered easily lol, but I enjoyed the flow, that nice cali beat and the visuals... It's like a little tribute. The video, in particular, is pretty cool if you ask me. It was released in 2015.
I obviously had no idea what he was talking about but hey, as long as music makes you want to move your feet or puts a smile on your face - you can check lyrics later and possibly feel embarrassed then ;)
I couldn't find any decent translation of the lyrics, so I had to translate them with google translate. I tried. Have a look:
I got eye on that 4, 5
6 mothafuckas, aimed, showed difference
I am also in boombap's trend setter at new school
My soul got some Wu-Tang on, you can not do this
Studio shakes the dust on the house microphone
Fabreeze my stanky pop filter, mic killer
Respect OG's, smoke g's, oh please
I want to do something and play
Every song I choose hater
I'm a porn shit, any guy is happy to hear the flow
I got the fucking fire, old school bap boom, my empire
I can not talk back, I just show and prove
Sound to kill again, my tongue touches
Wash before your mic checkin 'and your cochlea
Pasadeña representer, rapping till I fucking die
Till I mothafuckin rep that underground under god
[Hook]
I'm born, come on beat.
I do not like this 16
[Verse 2]
One-two step to that one-two microphone check
I'm in a hiphop scene
My looks kill is not it
My crew got my back
I am flying.
I catch that old school, piano playin 'up
It's up. Just spit it out.
The fuck's wrong with you, the fuck's wrong with you
I'm always bad news for Korean rappers
Mothafuckas get ready, get my chain ready
I'm selfish, eat everything,
4, 5, 6 bitches, want my dick pictures
I have to make this money.
[Hook]
I'm born, come on beat.
I do not like this 16
Nafla - JAIL
This video is brilliant! It was released two years later. What do you think? I absolutely dig the west coast vibe and beat! I watched tons of videos, some with a group called MKTRAIN, they were slightly too mainstream for my taste, but that is just my opinion. I later learned they even established their own label which goes by the same name and is LA based.
Pretty simple, I'm not a big fan of this whole old/new come and go trap wave; old school is more of my thing. You want more? You can find more of Nafla on the official MKTRAIN homepage !
