This masterpiece must be one of my favorite Dilla tracks of all time. "Don't Cry" was released in 2006 on his last album "Donuts."
I'm a sucker for old Soul and RnB samples, the cheezy ones, one of Dilla's many specialties. Like I said in my previous post, where you can watch how the beat was composed, I feel this track is saying goodbye to all his fans and loved ones.
The brilliant change of tempo while looping I Can't Stand (To See You Cry) by The Escorts, a single from the year 1974, was an innovation. One of the many reasons Dilla is the greatest of all time.
