What is Dig With Me Sunday's though?
Dig with me Sunday's is about digging for records, be it obscure or well known records of Jazz, Blues, Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Country - whatever we take a liking to while on our dig mission.
Every Sunday a new record will be posted along with songs that have sampled the record.
Anyone is invited to make a beat out of the weekly sample & post it on their blog. Sunday seemed like a fitting day for us.
This isn't limited to just me posting, it's for everyone so please share your finds on your page too.
IF YOU HAVE A DIGGING SESSION i WANNA KNOW ABOUT IT!!!!
If you have a collection.. I wanna see!
So let's go
Our First artist is Bob James With the record Shamboozie
Robert McElhiney James (born December 25, 1939) is an American Grammy Award-winning jazz keyboardist, arranger, and record producer. He founded the band Fourplay and wrote the theme song for the TV show Taxi.[1] Music from his first three albums has often been sampled and has contributed to the formation of hip hop
Some will instantly recognize this song as being from Rakim's Guess who's back. It's cool to know where sounds originated from as respect and recognition to both artists. I know it gives me more appreciation knowing the work put in by both artists.
Our sampled song is
Guess who's back By Rakim, and produced by DJ Clark Kent
It was easy to do this weeks DWMS. Rakim is one of my favorite MC's. One of the best. His evolution as an MC is crazy and I'd never tire of his music. Timeless!
William Michael Griffin (born January 28, 1968), better known by his stage name Rakim, is an American rapper. One half of golden age hip hop duo Eric B. & Rakim, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential and most skilled MCs of all time
HAPPY SUNDAY - Hope you enjoyed!
