I will start this wirte up with a picture that spells emotion at one glance.
One word can simply summarize the image above... JOY
SO WHAT BUSINESS DOES EMOTIONS HAVE WITH MUSIC?
Take a minute to reflect on all the songs you have listened to, I am pretty sure that there were some that:
- left you filled with emotions
- made you miss a loved one
- had you jumping and shaking your body
- allowed you reflect on your life
- left you with tears
- comforted you when you needed solace
- gave you a reason to live
The list is quite endless
Music cannot exist without emotions.
It has a way of bringing out something in you that keeps you coming back to it.
Have you ever listened to that spoken word piece that sunk deep into your subconscious? It sure sounded as though the piece was tailor made for you. The guy or lady who had the stage, told your story. Alas !!! someone could see things from your perspective.
Maybe it's a song which you have given your muscles to, allowing it sing through your reflexes as you dance.
You would agree with me that, nobody ever really dances with a straight face.
The next time you want to dance, try to keep a straight face, let's see if those steps will flow, and even if they do, the moment would be short lived.
Music engages the body in ways that only can be explained in one word MADNESS
The Performers
I have often heard people say, "You have got to take something, to give you an egde when you are on stage." I think they are wrong. If you believe in your art, then I know that of a necessity, the required adrenaline will flow and course through your viens, so long as you surrender to your emotions.
Every singer knows that if you haven't started feeling your music, then your congregation is already lost.
The rap guys aren't left out. You always see them using their hands and body language to show you how deep they want to sink their bars into your soul.
The attitude
You definitely cannot deny this. You can literary taste the energy when you see someone tearing the walls of his heart, just because he wants you to know that the song his performing has latched into his soul.
If you are a group, then you can actually pass the same message as a team. We all already know that you are a team, but your emotional connection to your music can help us appreciate you more.
