One of Frank Zappa's friends going back to high school was Captain Beefheart, they both were some eccentric unique sounding artists. One of their collaborations that is pretty good is "Willie the Pimp"
Both Zappa and Beefheart called out consumerist culture, one of Beefhearts most direct songs was "Plastic Factory."
Beefheart had a deep voice, that I think I read some where he may have busted a mic with his voice at some point. One cool videos of his was "Click Clack,"
A cool video of Beefhear and his Magic Band is "Electricity" at Canne's toward the end of the 60s. I'd love to play Cannes someday.
" Upon The My O My" is a great video from a famous tv show, "Old Grey Whistle Test" from the mid 70s, obviously got Beefhearts scratchy deep voice here.
The film "The Big Lebowski" has this song in it, it's a cool song about a woman with amazing blue eyes. All around Beefheart who later got into painting before passing away a few years ago is a noteworthy and unique artist of rock and roll.
One of my favorite Beefheart tunes is "Sure 'nuff ''n Yes I do" like Zappa lots of the text has a unique spelling, This song has got some great slide guitar and harmonica also at Cannes in 68. Looks like it was a great day, would have been cool to be parting there.
