Recently, I proudly launched the Liberty Academy (website link: http://liberty-academy.org/) which is an online school whereby all courses and mini-courses are free and where you can earn cryptocurrency for taking them!
In light of recent events and with so much chaos happening around the world, I thought it would be fitting to promote a very short mini-course (which takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete) entitled Meaning in Song: John Lennon's Imagine.
So why not take some time out of your busy day, perhaps during your lunch break, to join in on the discussion? I will leave one of these questions below if you simply wish to add your two cents here instead.
Here are the lyrics to this wonderful song:
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
The lines that are highlighted are the ones that we analyze further in this mini-course; but feel free to write down here what you think any of them mean.
Here is one of the discussion questions for the course:
#2. The year was 1971
Imagine was released on October 11th, 1971. What was happening during this period in history? And how may have events of that time influenced Lennon to write a song that resonated with so many people from around the world?
Thank you all.
God bless.
Peace.
