This cover of “I Put a Spell on You” was the lead single on Annie Lennox’s 2014 album “Nostalgia.” The album comprises covers of various blues, soul, and jazz songs that had been her childhood favorites.

At points, Annie’s performance is almost as wild as that of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins in his original version of this song. And in a way, much more powerful and dynamic. Moreover, she delivers this version with a powerful dose of blues.

In light of her diligent AIDS activism across Africa, Archbichop Desmond Tutu praised Annie Lennox as an “exemplary human being.”
