It's a rare thing these days that I find someone performing a song I really dislike in a way that I absolutely love. Well, to be honest, It's not that I hate the original song, but the meme itself is old, very old, and thus does evoke some cringe every time someone tries to pull it off.
Lately, mainly because the radio shows on MSPwaves have been taking vacations (mine included), some DJ's have given the audience some good ol fashion Rick rolling, just because and It had me thinking. "Does the song really suck, or is it just overplayed?" - I was stuck in that mental space, the one where being honest with yourself is difficult, because for one I don't feel like accepting that the song we all love to hate is not bad at all, I decided to listen to it and pretend it was new to me, just once more.
All of the sudden this video shows up in my feed, and even though this guitarist is not someone I recognized, the fan fretted guitar and the worn corner announced something special preemptively.
At any rate, you might find yourself loving the song, not just the performance. I'm sure his name will become more popular as time goes by simply because this is brilliant. Yes, all it takes is one word, ok, maybe two: f...ing brilliant!
