How to make the world a better place:
It's not that difficult, if you wanna do it. Why wouldn't ya?
Make sure everybody on the planet has clean water.
Make sure everybody on the planet has healthy foods.
Make sure everybody on the planet has a home.
Make sure everybody on the planet has health care.
Make sure everybody on the planet gets a comprehensive education and a job paying a living wage.
Once this is accomplished, redraw respective borders of statehood based on sound trade practices and organize systems of academia, business, emphasize the arts and create opportunity. Become a wholesome planet, one capable of welcoming aliens should they appear.
Wouldn't hurt to do this, would it?
